FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I GET AN OTM PUPPY?
Since we are not a high-volume breeder, we do not maintain a perpetual waiting list of new puppy requests. Each litter stands on its own and gets a new list.
After we get a confirmed pregnancy with ultrasound, we will announce the breeding on social media and our website. At that point, we will start collecting information from those who want to purchase an OTM puppy. After the litter is whelped and I have confirmed that the puppies are thriving, our team will start interviewing candidates for puppies. By 4 weeks, we will have notified those who are selected. Our goal is to place each puppy in the best family and situation as possible.
DO YOU SELL PUPPIES TO NON-HUNTING FAMILIES?
We spend tremendous energy selecting breeding pairs that will excel in the field as well as in the home. Therefore, due to our careful selection process our goal is to place our puppies with hunting or hunt test families. Boykin spaniels are working dogs, and they require the kind of exercise that training for hunting or hunt tests provides. In rare circumstances, we will place a puppy with a non-hunting/hunt test family.
HOW MANY LITTERS DO YOU HAVE EACH YEAR?
We are a low volume breeder and only produce 1-3 litters per year.
IS OTM A TRAINING FACILITY?
No, but we can help you select a good full-time trainer.
WILL MY PUPPY BE REGISTERED WITH THE BSS (BOYKIN SPANIEL SOCIETY)?
All litters will be registered with the BSS, AKC, and UKC. We require that these puppies are registered by their new owner with the Boykin Spaniel Society.
DO WE SHIP PUPPIES?
No. We do not allow our puppies to be shipped. There is too much that can go wrong.
Each new puppy owner must pick up their puppy in person.
WHAT IS A BSS GOLD-LEVEL BREEDER?
A gold-level breeder agrees to certain health and selective breeding requirements as well as code of ethics rules. The difference between a gold and silver is that a gold-level breeder has at least one breeder who has achieved a field title.
